Common Irrigation Problems

Our comprehensive sprinkler check process accurately and efficiently identifies any problems.

Below are some of the most common issues that cause sprinkler systems to malfunction.

  • Sprinkler spray heads or rotor heads are set too low, not spraying above the grass
  • Sprinkler spray heads or rotors are out of alignment, spraying areas that don't need water
  • Zone valves are leaking or not closing properly, leaving water build-up around the spray heads or rotor heads
  • Zone valves that are old and don't turn on or don't shut off
  • Controller box or timer does not work properly because of poor wiring, a bad battery, or faulty zone valve
  • PVC pipes cracking or bursting underground

Our Sprinkler Check Process

In our many years of experience, we have developed a method that will have your sprinkler system functioning properly ASAP.

Our process is thorough and effective. We identify any problems through the following process

  • Activate the system, zone by zone, to ensure all zones are turning on/off
  • Inspect the rain and freeze sensor, if present, for proper operation
  • Check the controller's backup battery for proper functionality
  • Program the controller's settings for seasonality and any watering restrictions
  • Examine each zone for any broken or malfunctioning sprinkler heads
  • Adjust any misaligned heads for proper coverage
  • Clean and adjust spray nozzles to ensure optimal spray coverage
  • Examine the system and yard for dry spots and and possible leaks
  • Identify all heads that need to be raised, lowered, or moved
  • Present diagnostic findings, and make recommendations for repairs and/or improvements
  • When present, we will examine your system's Rain & Freeze sensor. This device prevents your sprinkler system from activating during extreme cold, high winds, and rain storms, and is required by most municipalities. The inner components of a rain and freeze sensor deteriorate over time from outdoor exposure, and commonly require either a battery replacement or adjustments to the internal sensors.
